Project 20: horizontal and vertical lines

For this project I had to go out and look for specific examples and take photos. The aim was to find different ways in which horizontal and vertical lines appear to the eye and to the camera. I also had to find different examples, if I photographed the vertical line of a tall building try not to repeat it.

HORIZONTAL LINES

Photo 1 - Steps leading up to a bridge in my local park.

Photo 2 - Side altar in 'Paddy's wigwam' better known as Liverpool's Catholic Cathedral.

Photo 3 - Steps leading up to 'Paddy's wigwam'.

Photo 4 - floor in 'Paddy's wigwam'.

VERTICAL LINES

Photo 1- I was trying to do the panning project when I took this, it didn't work for that project but is perfect for 'vertical' - the young man on the skateboard and the trees in the background.

Photo 2 - A monument down at the newly restored Pier Head, Liverpool to the:-

"Officers and Men of the Merchant Navy who died while serving
with the Royal Navy but who have no grave but the sea 1939-1940"

If I took this again I'd move so the railing was out of the photo.

Photo 3 - Art Deco 'Georges Dock Building' ventilation building for the Mersey Tunnel.

Photo 4 - pipes for organ in St Georges Hall.
