The penalty for drunk driving
The motor vehicle act, 1939 says the DUI as driving by a person who are drunk or by any other person
under the influence of drugs. It further gives the explanation about the person
can be found as guilty of driving under the influence and had to pay the fine
amount also. If he or she found to be guilty when he or she has alcohol in
their blood and it is not the matter how much quantity is it? Moreover, the
penalty for drunk and driving is also defined under the motor vehicle act and
it states that an individual who is caught under the above said situation
should be punishable with the jail term of up to 6 months. In addition to that
he or she should have to pay at least 2000 rupees, if they are caught for the
first.
If an individual or a person is found guilty for the second time, then
this law can give the detail punishment for them. Additionally, if a person who
is caught after his first offense under the influence for next time within the
next 2 years can be committed to the jail term for up to 1 or 2 years and they
have to pay the penalty amount of 5000 rupees. If a person who is continually
caught for the drunken driving offense, there may be the increased possibility
of losing his driver license also.
